Scary thoughts and Casablanca
Just came home from watching Paranormal Activity and it was almost what I had expected it to be. The actors were good and the story was plausible, except for some college-project like parts of it. I guess I could have gotten more scared if I had let myself be. Still, scary movies are definitely not my thing, so I'll talk bout the start of Monday Night Film Festival... "Casablanca"!!!
It was great, I love how demure women were on film in that time, soft and polite, yet strong with their words and character. Shows you don't have to be loud and rude to make a point, kind of makes me feel better for not being that kind of girl.
Ingrid Bergman is gorgeous, confident, elegant, sofisticated and anythin a woman would want to be, more movies featuring her (and her beautiful daughter Isabella Rosselini) will be shown in the festival ;)
A movie for me, a bad-tempered-guy-with-a-good-heart lover. Rick is my kind of anti-hero. I think anti-heroes should be more appreciated than heroes, they have both the good and the bad and feel more real and true.
Luois I didn't like, to much of an oportunist for my taste, even though the end shows that even the most cynical of us can fight for something true. Its such an optimistic movie.
On the technic side, I learned alot bout framing and composition of the image (don't know the real terms for it, I'm going to start reading about it, in english), it's not necesary to have the camera right in front of the actors to describe a really good scene, as the matter of fact sometimes the more scenery you show the better you illustrate the mood, depending on the scene, lights and action.
Casablanca is a great movie, glad I got to see it, inspired me to go into more hollywood clasics. March will definitely be Hollywood Classics Month.
